About SAC, Kabba.
About St. Augustine’s College, Kabba:
St. Augustine’s College, Kabba, stands as a distinguished institution among secondary schools and colleges in the former Northern Nigeria. As the first experimental day secondary school established in the region, it played a pioneering role in expanding educational opportunities. The school was founded through the visionary leadership of the late Fr. John R. Duffy in 1958, whose unwavering dedication and tireless efforts—under the guidance of Bishop Augustine Delisle—laid the foundation for a transformative educational experience.
Before the school’s establishment, the local community faced significant resistance to formal education from adherents of traditional beliefs who opposed its introduction. However, St. Augustine’s College emerged as a beacon of hope, using education as a vehicle for evangelization and personal transformation—mentally, socially, and physically.
The college admitted its first set of nineteen students from various parts of Nigeria. Of these, thirteen graduated with distinction, securing admissions into universities within and outside the country. As the school expanded, its impact became undeniable. By the time the fourth set of graduates emerged, the number of St. Augustine’s alumni at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was significant enough to establish an Old Boys’ Association.
Over its 66-year history, St. Augustine’s College, Kabba, has maintained an outstanding academic record in WASC/SSCE and JSS Certificate examinations. The institution has produced world-class professors, lawyers, journalists, engineers, ambassadors, traditional rulers, and distinguished administrators, further mantinating its reputation for academic and leadership excellence.
