Francis Onaiyekan
Francis Onaiyekan was born on March 3, 1957, in Kabba, Kogi State, Nigeria. His early education began at St. Mary’s Primary School in Kabba, where he studied from 1962 to 1968. He then attended St. Augustine’s College, Kabba, from 1969 to 1973. Afterward, he pursued higher studies at the School of Basic Studies, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, from 1975 to 1976. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (Upper Division) from ABU, Zaria, in 1979. His quest for further education led him to the University of Ibadan, where he obtained a Master’s degree (MCA) between 1984 and 1986.
Francis Onaiyekan’s professional journey spans various industries. He began as a lecturer at the School of Basic Studies in Kano before transitioning into journalism as a news reporter with.
The Reporter newspaper. His career in public relations took off when he joined Inter-public Nigeria Ltd. as a Client Service Executive. He then moved into corporate communications, serving as the Corporate Affairs Officer at Rims Merchant Bank and later as the Corporate Affairs Manager at IGI Insurance Company. In addition to these roles, Francis Onaiyekan is the Chief Consultant at Independent Synergy Ltd., a communications consulting firm. He also holds a directorship at Ando Multi Concern Ltd. Furthermore, his expertise in media and communication has earned him a position on the Editorial Board of The Guardian Newspaper.
